To vaccinate or not to vaccinate, this is the COVID question?
I am not a medical practitioner or a scientist, simply a person trying to make his way through this world, loving Jesus, my family, and people. I have however had many people ask me about the COVID vaccinations and whether I would get one. What follow are some of my thoughts. In short YES, I would get the vaccination.
I have heard all the conspiracy theories around the vaccine and COVID. I wrote a previous blog in response which you are welcome to read: https://andrewchristiesite.wordpress.com/2020/04/02/conspiracy-theories-abound/ I will not set out to answer every question, but a few that I have been frequently asked. I will also not give you a definitive have to. Each person will need to make up their own minds as to whether to have the vaccine or not. I have not found any biblical basis for not having the vaccine. Even Paul instructed Timothy to take a little wine for his troubled stomach.
Perhaps you have heard this argument. This is all about control, you will not be able to take a flight or get your child into school without the vaccine. If you have ever travelled in Africa, you will know that you need to get a Yellow Fever vaccination. If you travel to a Malaria area, you take anti Malaria pills, don’t you? Why would this be any different? If you have children, you will know that to get them registered and into school they need to have an up-to-date vaccination card. They will not be allowed to go to school without it. Why would this be any different? The main argument for the difference with the COVID vaccine is that it is new and has not been tested. I know many people who have had it, some had some mild side effects, but none have grown another arm, their DNA has not changed, and none have died, and most certainly none are being controlled by Bill Gates.
Let me pose a thought. If you have a headache, do you take a Paracetamol or an Aspirin? If you pain, do you take anti-inflammatory medication? If you have flu, do you take flu medication? If you have an infection, do you take an antibiotic? COVID is real and I personally know many people who have had it. I have had it, as did my son Joshua. It was not just a cold; I was horribly sick and in a lot of pain. My taste and smell took months to return and has not returned completely. We have also had many folks that we know who have tragically lost their lives in the battle against COVID. If I can do anything to prevent my loved one’s and people around me from contracting COVID, I am going to do it. Social distance, masks, sanitizers and yes, even get the vaccination.
A few years back, a six-week-old baby died from Whooping Cough. A disease that could have been prevented through a vaccine. Apparently, the vaccine is only administered when a child is three months old. The parents went out and the baby was exposed to an older child who was not vaccinated and had Whooping Cough. A little while later their baby had passed through to be with Jesus. I would not want to lose anyone to something that could be prevented. Does that mean I will get the vaccine, yes it does!
What about the Pfizer scandals and the Johnson and Johnson issues I have spoken to those most qualified, doctors, medical practitioners, nurses and pharmacists, people on the frontline of the COVID pandemic. To a person they recommended, that I get the vaccine when the opportunity presents itself.
A doctor shared this picture, statistically it says a lot.
Does that mean I will get the vaccine, yes it does!
I do not presume or assume to tell anyone what to do, whether to get the vaccine or not. Each person should make up their own minds, live out their convictions, and the consequences of those convictions, whatever they may be. All this to say, yes, I will get vaccinated. Will you?
