Willow Hill Venue News

We have been given three months’ notice at Ontdekkerskruin NG that they will be joining with another NG Community (Veranderde Lewens NG) and will move to two services. The implications for us is that we would need to move our current service to 11:30 on a Sunday. In our experience and in consultation with many other Churches this would just not work. Just to say upfront there is absolutely no bitterness in my heart toward the NGs and I do pray that each one of you feels the same way. If not, bring your heart before the Lord, how can the Lord bless us going forward if our hearts are not in the right place. I personally see our Lord’s hands all over the whole situation.

It is His Church and He will build it. His will be done! The leaders at NG Ontdekkerskruin said there is a possibility for us to move to Florida Park NG. Rob and I went there and had a look and in discussion with Andre, this would not be suitable for us as it seats about 500 people and is way bigger than our current facility. We would just be lost in such a large building. I did speak to Barry and he has spoken with the Baptist Church about use of the Baptist Convention Centre in Roodekraans. This is not an option for various reasons.

I communicated our situation to our Fraternal and they said they would make some enquiries and pray for us however there were no immediate facilities that they could offer at this point.

Some good news: After meeting with Matthew and his staff at Oakfield the following blessings emerged:

• He would make the facility available to us exclusively until 11:30 every Sunday.

• He will assist us with the purchase of Wendy houses to facilitate Children’s Church until such time as we are ready to build.

• He would make an office available for me at Oakfield.

• They are in process of designing new signage for the main road and will put up a sign for us as well, I await the artwork.

• They will undertake to do tea and eats for us at the moment and once things are established they will charge us R5 per person for coffee and eats (which is less than we are paying at present for eats at WH)

• He will bring gas heaters into the Church for winter

• For those who are unaware, he has given us use of a sound system and installed a screen for us. He will be manufacturing a stand for the projector which we will have by this Sunday

Having said that we do need to pray together and seek our Father’s guidance for some answers to some interesting questions.

1. Do we shift Willow Hill to Oakfield and amalgamate the 2 services? So instead of 8 and 10:30 say do a 9am?

2. Do we shift to Oakfield and do two services, say 8am and 10am?

3. Do we give it a month or two and continue to look for a facility in our current area before we make a decision?

After much prayer I felt our Father touched my heart with the following and perhaps you could print this out and assimilate it into your prayers and thoughts as we process and transition our way forward:

Do hold all of the following in the context of the scriptures that make up part of my own, ours and Willow’s ‘DNA’. These are life verses for me and we should not focus on our problems, rather on our purpose for living –

Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, (19) to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour."

Matt 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

CLOUD - We need to be led by the Lord and I do not want to make any decision without following Him, following the cloud and the fire. Num 14:14 …that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Have we seen the cloud and the fire? Where is the Lord leading us? I sense we need to go where the flow of His blessing is.

CALLING – In the context of the scriptures that make up our ‘DNA’ I felt the Lord breathe Exodus 33:12-16 Moses said to the LORD, "You have been telling me, 'Lead these people,' but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, 'I know you by name and you have found favour with me.' (13) If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favour with you. Remember that this nation is your people." (14) The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." (15) Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. (16) How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?" I do not want to go anywhere without the Lord’s Presence, what else would distinguish us from the world? I do believe we are in His Presence and need to follow His promptings. I sensed our Father saying, He is in this “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

CONFIMRATION - Rev 3:7-8 "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. (8) I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

The Lord has closed the door at Ontdekkerskruin, so what door is He opening? Oakfield is a very obvious one. Does He have more in store for us (Another facility in the area?) We have been weary, we have little strength left but have remained faithful and He has opened a door for us.

And a large part of the confirmation for me is this scripture all the way back in Exodus - Exodus 34:10 Then the LORD said: "I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the LORD, will do for you.

And so let it be Lord!! Do wonders for your Church at Willow, wonders never done before in any nation in the world that the people we live among will see how awesome the work is that You Lord have done for us. ALL FOR YOUR GLORY LORD!! Please do pray with me and let us have some healthy dialogue.

Let it be Your will Lord

Love Andrew

Time to let go?

I am just thinking… We need to let go.  I do believe that so many hold on so tightly.  What do we hold onto? Control, fear, words spoken, unforgiveness, money & possessions. If you keep filling your bucket with these things they will drain your time, emotions and energy.  The even bigger problem is that these things begin to form part of our identity.  As we release control to our Father, which obviously takes trust, He begins to heal, set free and create within us the identity of the people we should be in Christ.  As for me I would way rather be the person the Lord has made me to be in Christ, than the person I would be if my identity was tied up in control, fear, words spoken, unforgiveness, money & possessions. What about you?
