Who or what we worship matters

Friends,

I am paraphrasing what Wright, N.T. in his book Surprised by Hope says – “One of the primary laws of human life is that you become like what you worship, adore, love, give reverence & devotion to…”

Jesus said “"Worship the Lord your God and only the Lord your God. Serve him with absolute single-heartedness." Luke 4:8 (MSG)

So given the choice before us the question could be framed this way:

Are you going to worship the world, money, sex, power, people, things, even creation itself, as they are?  In doing this we will only boost our corruptible nature by gaining power or pleasure from forces in the world.  The reality of this choice is that we will only be contributing to our own dehumanization and the furthering corruption of the world around us.  However if we chose to worship the creator God, we can discover what it means to become fully and gloriously human, reflecting his powerful, healing, transformative love into the world around us.  So which will it be worship Him, or worship the world?  The choice is yours and will affect who you are becoming.

May the peace of Christ rule in your heart!

BIG SUNDAY and a reflection for the week

Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our BIG ‘REUNION’ SUNDAY, this Sunday 29 March @ 10h30 @ Willow Discovery.  We will have a brief worship and input service followed by fun and fellowship. Could I encourage you to come along and to personally invite your friends and family and anyone and everyone who has visited Willow in the last 15 years!! We would love to see you there!! We will provide boerewors rolls for lunch so just bring what you would like to drink. There will be a slip and slide for the kids, so let them bring old clothes and towels.  I fun will be had by all. Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.

A reflection for the week:

We should rejoice and celebrate in the Lord. Phil. 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” And do you know what happens when you rejoice in the Lord as Paul tells us to? Well a few verses down he tells us what we will experience if we do.

Phil 4:7 If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. NIV

2 quick questions to ponder:

  1. Are you waiting for your circumstances to improve before you begin to rejoice in the Lord?
  2. Is your ability to rejoice related to your happiness?

May the peace of Christ rule in your heart!

Andrew
